The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
AWC establisehed a Covid Emergency Fund under the Healthy Families Program in response to Covid-19. AWC had to pivot and provide more direct services. Covid-19 emergency assistance and related support services. Connecting refugees to resources such as Covid-19 testing centers, food delivery, rent and utility assistance, processing Medicaid, TANF, SNAP, and CAPS applications. Most Community members avoided evictions and utility terminations.
AWC established a helpline in 10 different languages that the community can dial into and get help navigating the numerous resources available and receiving translation and interpretation services. Increase Covid-19 education, testing, hygiene and vaccine awareness. AWC's covid efforts also included multiple community outreach events throughout the year. Our December 4th event in collaboration with CORE, Dekalb County, and Dekalb County Board of Health vaccinated over 300 community members with 68 of them pediatric vaccines. The first event in the State of Georgia and Dekalb County to incentivize kids 5 plus.
