The nonprofit organization presents evidence of strategic thinking and goal setting through sharing their most important strategic goals.
Goal One: We have three core scientific research pillars, the first being Ocean Giants (OGs). OGs, such as sharks, large fish, marine mammals, and turtles, are vital mobile vertebrates that migrate across vast ocean expanses. They are key players in marine ecosystems, driving nutrient cycles and supporting biodiversity. OGs can also guide discoveries and offer valuable insights for human health.
Goal Two: We have three core scientific research pillars, the second being Blue Carbon. Blue Carbon, the carbon stored in marine ecosystems, is critical in mitigating climate change. We’re working to protect these areas, which sequester carbon far more efficiently than land ecosystems, helping combat climate change and preserve biodiversity.
Goal Three: We have three core scientific research pillars, the third being Deep-Sea. The deep sea contains vast fish biomass and sequesters up to 30% of atmospheric carbon. We are using non-invasive tools, including deep-sea cameras, water sampling, and submersibles, to monitor biodiversity and better understand and protect these critical, yet threatened, habitats.
