The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
Over the last year, Paradise Little League has made huge strides towards what we have dubbed our "Big Dreams."
We recognize that Little League, and recreational youth sports in general, are in decline. We believe that this is due to many factors: changing interests of our participants, the rise in travel baseball/softball, community and volunteer support, and economic inflation. Added to our recent and ongoing challenge of rebuilding our entire community after the 2018 Camp Fire, we believe that operating "business as usual" just won't cut it.
That is why we have implemented several new initiatives to meet our changing needs. This year, we added a "Volunteer Coordinator" role to our Board, as we are 100% run by volunteers. We understand that many hands make light work and are relentless in our recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers. From 2021 to 2022, we increased the number of volunteers by 130%, including a 180% increase in Board Members. We know our volunteers are our real MVPs.
We have also expanded our sponsorship program from three options, ranging from $150-$250, to over ten options, ranging from $150 to $10,000 to allow more supporters to participate by giving what they are able while not excluding the many smaller businesses in our community. From 2021-2022, our number of sponsors increased by 158% and the funds raised through sponsorship and fundraising increased by 307% (from $12,063 to $37, 084), while we increased our Grant income by 1103% ($5,000 to $55,174).
We believe that people and funding are our keys to overcoming whatever the world throws at us and are adapting to change by diversifying how supporters can get involved.
