The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
Adapability was a big part of what Luke's Fastbreaks has had to address over the past year.
We had a significant change in our workforce. Layoffs and new hires occurred. A new support person was added as well as shift from the full time bookkeeper to a parttime volunteer bookeeper. We also are still fully ingrating the new Executive Director.
We have significantly changed our model away from one that focuses on hospital visits to one that is now more focused on providing care packages directly to patients. Historically hospitals were provided shirts to handout to patients and now they are only provided a few sample shirts.
With supply change issues and shortages we were forced to adabt to a more prolonged order strategy. We now forecast out for a full year to determine what the care package needs will be and place orders for shirts / supplies that may be 9 months out.
For a period of time we had to adept to not being able to conduct fundraisers. Fortunately in the last 12 months we have been able to rengage with our donors in this manner.
We adapted by creating a more steamlined care package. We realized our care packages had become much more than the core shirt and determined there were some items that did not need to be included going forward.
