Synchronicity Earth USA was set up to support and raise funds for Synchronicity Earth, a UK-registered charity that analyzes, explores and develops the most effective approaches to funding conservation for some of Earth’s most threatened and overlooked species and natural environments. Synchronicity Earth believes that conserving and restoring species and ecosystems is a human endeavor that benefits not just nature but all of us. The aim of the charity is to provide people with the tools they need to protect the natural world by: - supporting conservationists working in challenging contexts to maintain and enhance the diversity of Earth’s species and habitats; - developing innovative approaches to conservation funding to help ensure that all donors are better able to support conservation that works for people and planet and - celebrating and championing biodiversity to give the natural world a more powerful voice across diverse sectors where it most counts.

A world in which biological and cultural diversity are valued, celebrated, and flourishing.

Goal One: Raise funds for Synchronicity Earth UK programs that support dozens of partners working to protect ecosystems and restore biodiversity across the world.

Goal Two: Raise awareness about the global biodiversity crisis and amplify the critical work of our partners.

Goal Three: Expand the global reach of Synchronicity Earth’s network of funders, partners, allies, and affiliates.

Synchronicity Earth has a distributed leadership model which empowers people at all levels of the organization to engage in organizational development and decision-making processes. For example, junior staff have taken the lead in developing and chairing thematic working groups that supplement and enhance our core conservation work. These include Reimagining Philanthropy; Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion; and the Youth Working Group. In the past year, Synchronicity Earth USA formally participated in the Montreal Biodiversity COP 2022. The team organized and spoke on several high-level panels, attended talks, and participated in workshops. These activities required leadership to hone several skills including representing the organization in a range of forums, public speaking, and the ability to design, manage, and implement strategic events.

Synchronicity Earth is gaining recognition in the environmental philanthropy sphere for its ability to effectively distribute funding to local partners who might otherwise be overlooked. At the same time, there has also been a significant increase in funding pledges to environmental causes, specifically for indigenous peoples and local communities. Given this increased funder interest, we have launched a process of evolving leadership to ensure that Synchronicity Earth USA has a robust, strategic, and aligned board that can support our anticipated growth. We have done this by creating a strategy to better engage and serve our US-based networks to expand both awareness and funding opportunities. Our continued participation in conferences and strategic networking events is a core pillar of this strategy. Another pillar is deepening our strategic partnerships with philanthropic institutions and networks. For example, we partnered with Fidelity Charitable and Harvard University to host a day-long event profiling Synchronicity Earth's approach and the urgency of supporting the environment to a wider philanthropic community.
