Statement on the Independence of Charity Navigator Ratings, Alerts, and Curated Lists

Charity Navigator’s ratings, alerts, and curated lists are the product of objective, consistent and transparent methodologies, and are not in any way influenced by any business or personal relationships between Charity Navigator and its board or staff, and the charities (and their boards and staff) Charity Navigator evaluates. You can read about our methodologies in detail (and as they are updated in response to changes in our work or in the environment) in our Rating Methodology Guide published on our website.

As a further safeguard to ensure the independence and integrity of our work, Charity Navigator requires each board member, staff, and volunteer to disclose any outside personal or professional affiliation with any nonprofit organization, recuse themselves from any decision-making regarding such an organization, and refrain from attempting to influence, in connection with those affiliations, any business or ratings-related matters before Charity Navigator. Charity Navigator regularly monitors compliance with this policy.
