Charity Navigator’s Yield Giving Open Call Picks

In March 2023, MacKenzie Scott’s Yield Giving initiative launched an Open Call for community-led, community-focused nonprofits advancing opportunities for individuals and families of modest means and those facing systemic obstacles. This nationwide search invited organizations across the U.S. and its territories to share how they empower communities to achieve meaningful improvements in well-being.

On March 19, 2024, Yield Giving awarded grants to 361 organizations in 38 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. These nonprofits span urban and rural settings, addressing disparities in economic outcomes, education, health, and other critical areas. While their focus areas vary—human services, youth development, women’s services, education, and more—they share a unified purpose: fostering equitable opportunities and reducing systemic barriers.

Charity Navigator leveraged the list of Yield Giving Open Call awardees (full list accessible here) to create a list of nonprofits that also excel in the Charity Navigator ratings.
