If the program prevents stunted growth in one child for less than the GDP per capita of the country of operation, it is deemed highly cost-effective and earns a score of 100. If the program prevents a case of stunted growth for less than three times GDP per capita, it is considered cost-effective and earns a score of 80. If the program prevents stunted growth for more than three times GDP per capita, it earns a score of 65. This program prevented a case of stunted growth for less than the 2018 GDP per capita of Tanzania.

    Analysis conducted in 2019 by Charity Navigator's acquired branch, ImpactMatters, using data from solicited nonprofits and publically available data from the IRS.
    Data Source
    Outcome data collected through the nationally representative Demographic and Health Surveys, which showed the prevalence of stunting (height-for-age) among children under age 5 in Africare's three main zones of influence before and five years into the program. Cost information for this program was collected from nonprofit reporting and form 990 data from the IRS.
