In addition, we recently hired two members of our organization to lead essential aspects of our organization. One is our fundraising, mentoring, and relationship building with the community, and another is to lead projects that need to happen in our recovery houses. We have added board members that can help us grow our organization to better the community.

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
Unfortunately, the United States has seen a 28.5% increase in drug and alcohol overdose deaths in the first half of 2021. The COVID pandemic has worsened the drug epidemic through social isolation, stress, and less availability of meetings. Sobriety is difficult work and takes commitment, opportunity, community, and faith. There are programs for drug prevention, crisis, and treatments, but not much for transitional support. Many of those in addiction are homeless, jobless, and have lost family and friends. It takes time to rebuild the lives that addiction destroyed. Resurrection Power currently operates four supportive recovery communities – homes where residents live with others, maintaining sobriety as they heal and move beyond the confines of their drug and alcohol addiction. We offer support, mentoring, and encouragement in an affordable and sober living environment. We provide opportunities to heal, learn and grow so residents can become functioning members of society. These were all things that we difficult to do with social distancing, quarantining, and the inability to fundraise. We had to obviously change how we did things in the past, but we were able to succeed. We continued to have financial support from donors. We decreased the number of people within our houses to meet the quarantine and social distancing requirements. We are now working harder to help the community with addiction through our increased mentoring and volunteer programs and possibly the building of additional housing.
