The Springfield Rescue Mission (SRM) developed Emergency and Rehabilitation Programs providing: An Emergency Shelter for homeless men. Men's New Life Rehabilitation Program, a 12-month residential, Christian rehabilitation program for men. Transitional Living Programs offers men that graduate from our New Life Program to receive free services to transition back into the community. Community Outreach Meals provides food to community charities, churches and organizations doing like-minded work. Public Breakfast and Lunch provides nutritious meals six morning per week. Operation SONshine is a mobile- food service distributing meals to low-income neighborhoods. Give Away Center distributes to men, woman and children items of clothing and other items. Holiday Banquets serves individuals a full menu, traditional holiday meal during the Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. Goal One: SRM is devoted to helping men, women and families to overcome their hardships, addictions and circumstances to become healthy, productive and responsible citizens in the community.

Goal Two: SRM has a proven track record in achieving its fundraising goals. SRM incorporates proven "best practices" in fundraising to sustain support for ongoing and new programs.

Goal Three: SRM's plan to target food insecurity and homelessness is ongoing for men, women and children. SRM plans to sustain our programs indefinitely and as long as there are individuals in need.

Under the leadership of former Salvation Army Captain Julius Cummings, is one of the oldest human service agencies in Greater Springfield, MA. Over the years, the SRM has successfully managed leadership, organizational and programmatic changes, fostering its historical significance in the community. SRM has been providing over 129 years of service to the homeless, addicted and poor. Although SRM experienced many changes over the years, it remains a Christ-centered organization, reaching out and touching lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Men, women and children seek the many services provided at the Rescue Mission daily. SRM new leadership under Kevin Ramsdell continues the efforts to development strong leadership roles.. Newly developed team-building employee study groups, certification classes in food and warehouse departments and safety initiatives are in place to improve this organization to continue to succeed in helping those in need in the community.

SRM is excited to now provide public lunch serving nutritious meals six-days a week and will soon add dinner to help serve the public. SRM has also increased food distribution serving local charities, organizations and churches doing like-mined work providing meals into the community. The SRM was excited to be part of the Farmers to Families Food Box Program. The USDA is partnering with farmers, ranchers, specialty crop producers, food processors and distributors, and non-profit organizations to ensure that all Americans have access to the fresh and wholesome food they need during the COVID-19 national emergency. Each Food Box contains a combination of produce, dairy, protein and will be labeled per USDA approved guidelines. The Farmers to Families Food Box Program works with farmer who sell food previously destines for restaurants and bulk purchasers to distributors, preventing waste. The SRM will work with the distributors to make sure that families pick up food boxes from local schools, food bank, faith-based organizations and other non-profits. SRM has also developed “All things Are Possible” which is a series of Biblical Strategies developed in chapters for attacking and overcoming addiction. It is an interactive program made up of men and women who share their experience, testimonies, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to overcome their sin. The only requirement for membership is a desire to live a life that is pleasing to God and to make every effort to grow in sanctification by His power. There are no dues or fees for membership. In addition to the above, SRM has enhanced our Rehabilitation Programs where residents participate in classes in math, English, computer literacy, but now have the opportunity to receive Relapse Prevention, Aftercare Planning, Job Readiness, Financial Wellness and Credit Repair and much more through our Learning Center.
